Well, i finally found out what makes the trainer stop working! It does not support more than 80 factions. That includes separatists, rebels etc. So, if the trainer stops working, just reduce the number of factions by diplomacy or war. This is official, I spent hours veryfying this by testing...

When you start the game, in the main menu, upper right corner, it should display the current version and build (at least the steam game does).

Okay, trainer works fine. For those who can't get it to work: After some trial and error I figured out that the trainer does NOT work with Mods enabled, that change the STARTPOS file. With all other mods it seems to work fine.
