A trainer attaches itself to a game and tries to change the game to do something that it was not programed to do. That is the same thing a virus does which is why your antivirus will often detect a trainer as a virus. This is called a false positive and should be ignored but you may need to add the trainer as an exception in the settings for your antivirus so it wont block/delete it. All antivirus programs are different and so if you do not know how to add an exception to your antivirus google it.
