I managed to disable the f hotkeys crap. but the mods wont work. I dont hear any activation thing. is there something im doing wrong?

If there away I can change the mods hotkeys, because all my F1 crap leads to something popping up and stopping the game. Iv looked at the bottom to change the hotkeys, are the cheats actually working. e.g. if I put cheat 1 would that be inf health?
