Hmm idk. I had to join a multiplayer game cause a quest broke and it was the only way to fix it. I had zero issues joining it, even though I have all 3 trees maxed out and still have points remaining. So weird?

They just did an update thats why. Mine didn't crash but the trainer options didn't work.
