Is it at all possible to slow the passage of time using a trainer like this? Always frustrates me that I spend a few minutes walking around and it's suddenly pitch black. God knows why they decided on progressing time as you move.

It's due to how trainers work. I've used plenty of MAF's trainers and never had a problem with them. They are not viruses, I can guarantee it.
