I figured out the problem. You tell people to pause the game, activate cheat, then unpause. This is actually what messes it up. DO NOT PAUSE before activating the cheat and do not pause while the cheat is activated.

I do exactly as you say, start a mission, pause it, activate cheat, unpause it and place 2 units getting 9m credits, pause it, deactivate cheat, unpause and I get this messed up UI and can't start the mission. If after getting the 9m credits I don't pause it and then deactivate the cheat the UI doesn't get messed up but the start mission button doesnt work.

Just tested it and it still works with the latest version (1.07). Go into mission, press F1, place a single unit, press F1 to turn off, enjoy.

Trainer continues to work with version 1.1.0. Because pressing F1 now pops up an info menu in game, this can cause the game to glitch and not let you start the mission, so here's exactly what to do.

Go in game, past the screen where you select your squad members. On the unit placement screen press the windows key or do something so the game isn't in focus, then press F1 to activate the cheat. Go back to the game and place a single unit. Repeat step one to make the game lose focus. Press F1 to turn off the cheat. Go back to the game and enjoy!
