Baldur's Gate announcement imminent as ominous countdown appears

Developer of both HD remasters of Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate II, Beamdog, is up to something. Looking at the official Baldur’s Gate website, one is greeted with a very cryptic countdown, signalling that the developers have something to announce come the end of it.

But what could it be? We’ve done some detective work to find out.



OK, so maybe there wasn’t that much detective work to be done.

Beamdog have already confirmed that they’re working on another Baldur’s Gate title, dubbed “Adventure Y”, which takes place between the events of the two existing games.

Inspecting the source code for the countdown page, the only snippet of information we can extract is that there’ll probably be a Twitch stream embed that will go live at the end of the countdown.

If you want to find out more, you’ll need to wait until July 3rd, at 03:00 BST.

Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear expansion adds 25 hours of all-new content

Baldur’s Gate: Adventure Y is exactly what Beamdog promised it would be – an all new game presenting the heretofore untold tale of what happened between Baldur’s Gate 1 and 2.

An expansion to Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition, Siege of Dragonspear boasts 25 hours of content and has not yet been priced or dated, but is expected before the end of the year on Linux, Mac and PC. It will come to Android and iOS “shortly thereafter”.


You do need to own Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition to play Siege of Dragonspear, and can import your character and save from the base game – as well as export it to Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition. It supports up to six players in cross-play co-op multiplayer.

Though Sarevok is dead and his plan for war averted, peace eludes the citizens of Baldur’s Gate. A crusade marches from the north, seizing supplies, forcing locals into military service, and disrupting trade along the Sword Coast.
