Story by Julian Benson-PCGamesN
Since its release, Dark Souls 2’s PC players have found that if they play the game at 60fps their weapons degrade significantly faster than at 30fps. It’s a bizarre bug and one players have been reporting to developer From Software since it was first discovered a year ago.

It’s only now that the bug’s started to hit console players that the studio’s decided to fix it.

Dark Souls 2’s most recent DLC, Scholar of the First Sin, spread the bug across the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game. Affecting enough players for From Software to take notice and take the time to fix the problem.

The studio contacted Kotaku to confirm that the next patch has “Fixed issue whereby weapon durability was decreased drastically when used on enemy corpses, friendly characters, etc.” Then the publisher, Bandai Namco, contacted to clarify “The fix will be issued for PS4, Steam and Xbox One, and will be apparent for people running the game at 60fps as the durability decrease rate is linked to the frame rate.”

They’re still “working on the exact release date for the patch” but it should be out soon
