Make sure you've saved the file after editing it and make sure that you start a new game, since it won't affect any saved games which will use the setup from when they started. Also remember that any items you put on your character during the tutorial will disappear once it finishes, but you can just take them again.

Definitely works, I'm using it right now.

Game seems easy enough to modify with Cheat Engine but getting a streamlined trainer would be pretty nice
