Multiple Trainers not Working

I have tried Ruse and Rome total war 2, when I try any of the cheats it does the normal function such as f2 and f3 changing brightness.

Game version: Ruse Steam version 1.0.1 and Rome Total War 2 also Steam

When you are in game, press alt-tab , activate cheats then back to game

Sadly when attempted this it didn't work.

I figured it out i simply pressed the fn key to change between brightness and activating cheats. Thanks for your help
