NBA 2K14 has been resurrected, and 2K has elected to extend its limited support periods for games with online features
NBA 2K14's servers were shut down last week after 18 months service, which is annoying but not unusual for the 2K Sports games.
Unfortunately in this instance the shutdown broke player’s career mode saves, making them inaccessible, so they couldn’t even continue playing offline. 2K hadn’t announced this outcome and said it had no plans to remedy it, resulting in some not undeserved ill-feeling.
The publisher has since changed its mind, thankfully. In a statement provided to GameInformer, a 2K representative said not only will it restore service, but moving forward it will extend its support periods.
“2K has restored the NBA 2K14 servers and all online services,” the spokesperson said.
“Beginning today, we are extending the support of all NBA 2K servers from 18 to 27 months following each release, giving our players more time to experience and enjoy the highest rated NBA simulation video game franchise.
“The opinions of our community continue to have a positive impact on our business decisions as we strive to create the best possible experience for all of our fans.”
Good news for those who prefer not to buy the new instalment every single year.
