Duplicate any item you have :
1.Place the item you want to dupe in space.
2.leave inventory.
3.Press Pause.
4.Go back into inventory and move the item that you put in space back into your inventory.
5.Leave inventory.
6.Exit to main menu.
7.Continue game.
Now you'll have the item in your inventory AND another one floating in space. Obviously you can do this with up to four items each time to speed it up.
I would suggest upgrading the item with whatever you have because when you sell the items, you'll get junk AND upgrade points. If you then upgrade a piece of gear fully and duplicate that you'll end up getting tons of junk+upgrades each time you sell your duplicate item.
It's possible to get your two extra ships, fully arm all 3 and upgrade everything before you even leave the first screen or take a turn
