Extra Points is used to purchase items in the bonus features menu

to unlock stuff like costumes, figures (3d viewer) u ammo etc.

But I don't think u need u extra points cheat, 'coz u earn enough for playing the story or mercenary mode.(my opinion)

Yes i suppose you are right maybe change it for something a little more useful like mercenaries options.
