Hi MrAntiFun. I'd like to ask what your opinion is on the recent announcement that WeMod will operate as a paid subscription service. Do you support this?
Our "cheaters" community has always held to the principle that cheats, trainers, and mods have always been, are, and will always be free.
After you began collaborating with WeMod, you stopped releasing separate trainers here. Now things are getting "complicated" because there won't be any alternative, unless you go back to the way things were (i.e., releasing trainers on this forum).
WAND & PLITCH — MY PROBLEM WITH TIME-LIMITED CHEAT TRAINERS
I want to make something clear about
WAND and PLITCH-style trainer systems and why I’m frustrated with the direction these services are going.
I originally learned about
WAND through Mr. Anti-Fun, back when using trainers for single-player PC games was simple. You picked your game, enabled the cheats you wanted, and played.
There wasn't some ridiculous countdown hanging over your head telling you:
“You've used enough cheats today. Come back tomorrow or pay us.”
That is specifically what I have a problem with.
With
WAND, I used to be able to use cheats in my
single-player games without a daily time restriction. Now the free system limits how long you can use the trainer each day.
Once that time runs out:
Wait for the daily reset
or
Pay for a membership to continue using the trainer
And I'm sorry, but I think that's a
load of horse shit.
I'm not complaining because companies charge money. Developers need to get paid. Servers, updates, employees, development and support cost money.
Charge for:
Premium features

Advanced cheat options

Cloud features
Extra trainer functionality
Companion apps
Early access
️ Advanced customization
That's completely reasonable.
But taking basic trainer usage that previously wasn't restricted and putting it behind an artificial
daily TIME LIMIT is completely different.
We're talking about SINGLE-PLAYER games.
I'm not talking about cheating against other players.
I'm talking about a game
I bought, running on
my computer, where I might want:

Unlimited health
Unlimited money
Unlimited ammo

XP multipliers
Unlimited resources

Faster progression
Different gameplay options
If I want to spend five hours screwing around with cheats in my own single-player game, why should a trainer program suddenly decide I've played long enough?
And here's the funniest part:
WAND and PLITCH aren't the only ways cheats exist.
People have been creating:
Standalone trainers
Cheat Engine tables
Scripts
Save editors
Mods

Memory editors
Community cheat tools
…for years.
So assuming people will simply say:
“Well, my free timer expired. Guess I have no choice but to subscribe.”
is ridiculous.
No.
People are going to start looking elsewhere.
They're going to rediscover places like
Mr. Anti-Fun, standalone trainers, Cheat Engine and other alternatives that don't tell them when they're allowed to modify their own single-player game.
There is a better business model.
Keep the basic trainer usable without an artificial countdown.
Then make the
premium features worth paying for.
Make people WANT to subscribe.
Don't deliberately annoy them until they subscribe.
There's a major difference.
That's my complaint.
I'm not saying developers shouldn't make money.
I'm saying:
Don't take something people previously had unlimited access to and suddenly put a daily timer on it.
Especially when we're talking about cheats for
single-player games.
WAND seriously disappointed me with this change.
And when services like
WAND and PLITCH become increasingly restrictive or lock useful functionality behind subscriptions, it gives people even more reason to search for alternatives.
Personally, I think daily trainer time limits are a load of horse shit.
What do you think?
Should cheat-trainer companies make money through genuinely useful premium features?
OR
Should they be able to restrict how long free users can use basic cheats every day just to push people toward another monthly subscription?
