There’s lots of interesting things going on at the Warcraft movie, be that the transformation of Blizzard’s cartoon-ish MMO into a lifelike fantasy realm or the impressive use of on-set motion capture. And then there’s this trailer, which is unlike any movie trailer we’ve seen before. It chucks you on the back of a gryphon and allows you to take a look wherever you fancy over the city of Stormwind.
The trailer is designed for Chrome browsers, so if you’re having issues try using that. The video itself was developed by Industrial Light & Magic xLAB, and allows a full 360 degree rotation of the camera to see all areas of Stormwind as your gryphon taxi ferries you from one side to the other.
It is quite lovely, and certainly gives us a good look at the art style and atmosphere of the film, if nothing plot-wise. For that kind of stuff, we’ll need to wait until November, which is when director Duncan Jones assures us the first, full trailer will be released.
The Warcraft movie will release June 2016.
