Yeah same problem with the skill points... @MrAntiFun can you do an option for reset the skill points to 0 ? It would be cool

With the new trainer, activate it spend all the point you want until you have 4 points left. Deactivate, spend the rest of the points, Activate.

You will now need to play the remainder of the game with the trainer active as this will freeze your skill points at 0.

For me, the trainer crashes when i try to activate whit 0 skill points
Works fine freezing the points in a positive number.

Leaving one skill not maxed out is a solution to the issue. Luckily I've got a skill one point to max so that I can use it to spend the extra points.
